There are a few single coffee/tea brewers on the market right now so deciding which one is best for you can be a hard decision.  It really depends on your needs and the needs of those in your household.  I am the only coffee drinker and I like to drink the first cup out of the pot and it needs to be VERY hot.  So making a pot of coffee is a HUGE waste of money for me.  Therefore a single cup brewer is exactly what I need.

I received the Tassimo T20 Home Brewing System for my review and before I go any further I want you to know I knew nothing about this brewer except they sold Starbucks coffee to use with the Tassimo.  That’s pretty much it.  So needless to say when it arrived I was excited to open it up.

The Tassimo T20 is the perfect size for your counter if you are short on counter space (raising my hand!) or if you’d like to keep it in your office or on your desk and especially for a college student.  It measures just under 8 inches wide and is about 11 inches tall with a depth of just under 12 inches.  Nice and compact and it does a GREAT job!

What makes Tassimo different from the others?  Their T-Disc Technology.  I had no idea about this awesome feature and I was pretty amazed by it.  Each T-Disc has a bar code on it.  The bar code tells the brewer how much water, what temperature to brew and for how long. These needs change between the beverages so it’s a pretty awesome thing.  Now I am going to be honest with you, I read a bit of the directions but not everything and I saw the bar code on the T-Discs but didn’t think much more about them other then “hmm a bar code”.  That’s it.

I made my first cup of coffee, they sent me some Gevelia samples to try.  There is no option for size of cup but there is a really cool manual button you can use if you’d like more hot water in your cup.  It will make the coffee a bit weaker but that’s OK in my book, I don’t care for strong coffee.  I like to use big mugs so my first thought was that every time I make a cup of coffee I’m always going to have to push the manual button to fill my mug.  No biggie I guess, but I wished it had a size setting.

Fast forward to this weekend I was out shopping and grabbed a package of the Maxwell House morning blend T-Discs.  Didn’t read anything on the box, why should I??  LOL  I got home and made a cup of coffee.  Put one of my usual big mugs in there (thank goodness I did!) and brewed my coffee.  Next thing I know it’s filling up the cup.  I got a little nervous and was going to grab another cup because I thought there was something wrong and I didn’t want coffee all over my counter.  Then it stopped at the top of the cup, well almost.  I was thinking to myself “that’s weird, why did it fill up the cup this time?”.  I then grabbed the box of Maxwell House T-Discs and saw “Large, 12oz”. DUH!  I had NO IDEA that there were different size T-Discs and of course the bar code told the brewer exactly how much water to put in.  PRETTY Cool, don’t you think?

There are over 40 different varieties of beverages that go with the Tassimo T20 so there’s bound to be something that everybody likes!
