Product Information: Baby’s Binky Box was created out of desperation. Author Jennifer Ormond couldn’t find any books to read to her 18 month old son that would teach him how to give up his beloved binky (pacifier). His two favorite things in the world were reading, and his binky. Her and her husband had heard the horror stories about how difficult it is for a child to give up the binky. There are books out there that tell parents how and when to take the binky away from the child but nothing that helps a child give up this habit on their own. She went to book stores, searched online and found nothing. There are gazillions of books about potty training, new teeth, and bad behavior, but nothing for children about binkys. She was so frustrated that she decided to write a story based on her own experience.
She had the idea of Baby’s Binky Box while walking through an arts and crafts store. She saw these adorable, tiny unfinished cardboard boxes for nineteen cents. She had paint, glue, and sparkle shapes at home and thought this would be a fun craft. Wouldn’t this be great for the binky to have a cozy, box to sleep in? Her son had to have at least three binky’s at bed time, so if he could let one sleep in this very special box that he made, they would be making progress. It worked. It took time and quite a few binky boxes but it worked. One by one her son allowed each binky to sleep in a box that he made in the crib next to him. Her second son loved binkys so much he would take “binky breaks” from playing. The box and the story worked for him also, and much quicker. Her youngest is 18 months and has already read the book millions of times. She is pregnant with number four and plans to use the binky box with that child too.
