Chewbacca Granola Bars Recipe – A Fun Star Wars Treat

We are huge Disney and Star Wars fans and we recently took a trip to Disney World to visit Galaxy's Edge.  It was AMAZING.  They did an incredible job recreating Star Wars.  My husband, oldest daughter, and oldest stepson are HUGE Star Wars fans and they could have spent all their time in Galaxy's Edge. I grew up with Star Wars.   My brother had all the Star Wars playsets and I was his playmate.  I don't remember minding that much as it was fun.   A couple of years ago I even met a stormtrooper and R2D2 while on a press trip. In honor of this Galaxy's Edge, I have a fun treat that you can make with the kids - Chewbacca Granola Bars! Aren't these Chewbacca Granola Bars adorable?  They are...

Who is your favorite charactor?  Did you know that the first Frozen movie, which opened in 2013, is the highest grossing animated film of all time?  Yup!  My girls were little then and we played the movie over and over again, every day.  Of course, we also played the songs when the movie wasn't on.  As a result I know all the words from every song from Frozen. ...

The Music of COCO

The Music of COCO

Today I want to share with you some interesting facts about the music of COCO. If you haven't seen it yet, it's now in theaters and a must see movie for the entire family. Because COCO is all about music and family. Miguel is passionate about music and the filmmakers used music to give life to the entire story.    As a matter of fact, the music was talked about more early on than the actual movie itself.  That's how important it is to this movie. Check it out: They wanted a nice mix of authentic music and some original music.  They wanted the team of songwriters to be true to the traditional Mexican music but to also be creative with some new sounds. Music can really make a movie, and sort...

A Closer Look at Pepita and Dante from COCO

A Closer Look at Pepita and Dante from COCO

During my trip to San Francisco to learn about PIXAR's newest movie, COCO, I also learned about Alebrijes, which are part of the Mexican culture.  They are animals that are a mix of a bunch of animals.  In the story of COCO, we meet Pepita. She's a colorful Alebrije who is a bit of tiger, ram, eagle and lizard.  She is beautiful and is an important charactor in the movie.  She helps to guide us through the Land of the Dead. Alebrijes are beautiful in color and a bit crazy!  We had the chance to paint our own Pepita and it was a lot of fun.  I didn't do nearly as good as a job as PIXAR did in COCO, but it was fun trying. Another important animal in the movie COCO is Dante.  He is Miguel's...

Bringing Skeletons To Life in COCO

Bringing Skeletons To Life in COCO

You guys, I have more fun facts about the movie COCO which is in theaters next month!   This time I want to share with you what I learned about bringing skeletons to life in the movie.  Now it may seem like not a big deal, I mean animation is animation, right?!  Well I found out it's not really that simple. Skeletons brought a whole new challenge to the table while making this film.  Here are some fun facts about the steps they had to take to make them look interesting and "real".   They had to study different types of skeletons and how they moved because they had no muscles to move the bones.  I would have never even thought about the fact that there are no muscles, which is what...

Here are some facts about COCO I thought you might like to know.  Hopefully they will peek your interest and you'll go see it in November! COCO began with 5 years of...

COCO Filmmakers Talk Challenges, Movie Title, Family, Sequels and more!

While I was in San Francisco earlier this month, I was able to meet with and interview COCO Director Lee Unkrich, Writer and Co-Director Adrian Molina & Producer Darla K. Anderson about their upcoming PIXAR movie.   COCO is about the mexican tradition Dia de Muertos, the Day of the Dead which is celebrated on November 1st every year. Disclosure: I received an all expense paid trip to San Fransisco and PIXAR.  However, the thoughts and expressions in my post are my own and were not swayed by anything other than my love for all things Disney and PIXAR. Listening to them talk about COCO, I could tell that Lee, Adrian and Darla are extremely passionate about this movie and they wanted to...
