April 22 is not only my husbands birthday (Happy Early Birthday Honey) but it’s also Earth Day. I think this year more people are going to be celebrating Earth Day with all the ways we are going green. Going green is what Earth Day is all about now, isn’t it?
I’ve been trying to go green, I probably could try harder but I figure every little bit helps. I heard that some stores are going to start charging for plastic bags. I don’t think that is a bad idea. I have a ton of the reusable shopping bags and I really do love them. I even gave one in a gift basket for Christmas last year and the recipients loved it! My local food store (Stop and Shop) gives me .05 off my order for each reusable bag I use. Needless to say my bags have paid for themselves over and over and now I am saving money by using them. I like that idea too!
Why not celebrate Earth Day all month long, rather than just one day? If 1 out of 10 people did something good for the earth every day this month can you imagine all the good that would be getting done? A Lot!! So why not give it a try and see what you can do. And then let us know here what you are doing each day. I will try my best to start a new post every day this month (might be late in the day some days but I’ll try my best!) And to help us along, check out Whole Living, they are going to list daily tips and suggestions each day.
Today’s Suggestion/Tip is “Get to know a local farmer. Not only will you support local agriculture, but you’ll be eco-friendly, too.”
We have a couple of places around here to get fresh fruits and veggies each summer. I love knowing that not only and I helping the local farmers but I am getting really FRESH food. Nothing better than fresh! After you visit your local farmer and get some nice fresh fruits and veggies check out the Seasonal Foods section at Whole Living for some great recipe ideas.
Have a fun and Green month!
