I’m very active on the PTA at our Elementary School and my girls love it! They like seeing me at events, and in the halls at school. I like that everyone in the building knows me and the feeling I get helping at events and raising money for their school. If every parent could donate time the way I do, then the school would be rocking, but I know that’s not possible. But there are ways to help and not even be present at events. That is through Box Tops. I’ve been talking about them this week because right now you can find Bonus Box Tops on select General Mills products at Walmart.
Collecting Box Tops for Education
We’ve been clipping Box Tops all summer long. It doesn’t stop. I even have my mom clipping them for me! Every penny counts when it comes to fundraising and it really is one of the easiest ways to raise money for your school. It’s also the perfect way to get your entire family involved, the kids included. I believe by having my kids help, and be more aware of the program, then they will see the value in it, and what they can do for their school too.
Plus it can be fun for them. At the end of last school year, our Box Tops Coordinator sent home a sheet that we could use to collect our Box Tops over the summer. I love this sheet because not only does it make it easier for me to send them into school, but we also know how many I’m sending in at a quick glance, and we can see how much cash it’s worth!
Each time we clipped a box top, the girls would grab one of the sheets and tape it on a box. Believe me when I tell you that they were very excited each time we filled up a sheet and added up how much we were donating to the school with our Box Tops. I love the idea of paying it forward to my school, without taking any additional money out of my pocket. But what I love even more, is my kids seeing us do this as a family.
