As of December 1, 2009, per the FTC, all bloggers must disclose when they receive a free product and/or any form of compensation in exchange for a post. I have always been honest with my readers when I receive a product for review so I will continue to do so but what will be different is I will also put a statement at the bottom of each post letting everyone know that I did receive a FREE product but it did not influence my opinion.
I blog the truth all the time but I guess there are people out there that don’t so this is what has to be done now and I’m fine with it.
I also, from time to time, will be paid to write a post. When this happens, the payment never reflects my opinion, it just may influence my post topic but the words I use are always mine, the stories I tell are always mine and the facts I state are always my personal opinion.
I receive compensation from referrals from some affiliate companies for things I post about on this blog, for example some of the survey companies, some printable coupons, some free samples or free offers, things like that but not for everything. I don’t just post affiliate links, I try to mix them up.
Using these affiliates helps me to earn some money for all the time I put into my blog, which some weeks is a lot. I don’t do it just for the money, I enjoy blogging, I enjoy finding the deals and mostly I enjoy helping my readers and getting emails from them. That’s the best part. But I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the money that my blog brings me.
Below you will find Koupon Karen’s Disclosure Policy. If you have any questions about anything I mentioned or want more of an explanation of what I wrote please don’t hesitate to email me. Thanks for being a loyal reader.
