I had a reader ask me “what I do when I don’t have the coupon with me that I need”. I wanted to share the answer with everyone because I think it’s something most may not know.
I don’t carry every single coupon with me to the store. I’ve heard of some people that do, but I don’t. I also don’t clip all my coupons each week. I file them by the date of the insert so I can easily locate them when I’m looking for a coupon.
Each week while looking through the inserts, I cut out the coupons of the products that we use most that I may find on sale unexpectedly. But I do run into sales that are just too good to pass up and with a coupon it’s an even better deal. Unfortunately I don’t have that coupon with me or I’m not sure if there is a coupon.
What do I do??
I ask the sales clerk if I can bring in the coupon with my receipt the next time I’m in and get the money back for my coupon. Most stores, at least around here, will let you. There’s nothing wrong with doing that. You bought the product. Of course I always make sure it’s within a few days to a week. After a week I wouldn’t bother nor would I be surprised if they didn’t honor it.
So next time you find yourself with a great deal in your hand but not the coupon, ask the cashier or manager if you can come back with the coupon and the receipt. It’s worth it to ask. Just another way to save money!
Do you have a coupon question? Let me know and if I don’t know the answer, I’ll try to find it.
**Update: Coupon Clippin Daddy shared with me that Target will only do this if it’s the same day. Not sure if that is at every Target, but that’s why I recommend checking while your still at the store. Thanks Coupon Clippin Daddy!
