This is a late in the day deal I just found out about but if you purchase a Motorola DROID or an HTC Droid Eris from Verizon Wireless before the end of the day today (12/7) you can receive a free Droid Eris by HTC after $100 mail-in rebate debit card. All qualifying smartphones require two-year activation on a voice plan with email feature.
In addition to the obvious appeal of a seriously cool free phone, there’s all that the DROID (either Eris or Motorola) does to help out with holiday shopping:
- Barcode Scanner: The ability to scan most types of barcodes on almost any product and compare prices using Google’s Product Search service.
- Key Ring Reward Cards: Scan all of your store reward cards and club store membership cards, lightening any savvy shopper’s key ring by eliminating the need to carry a dozen reward cards on a keyring, allowing the user. After the user uses the Droid’s built-in 5 Megapixel camera to scan the barcode off of the reward card, he will be able to display that barcode on the screen whenever it is needed.
- ActionComplete: A task manager for those who need to have more than a plain and simple todo list. This application is a full task and project manager that allows a user to have very precise controls over various aspects of the projects and tasks that are entered.
- Smart Shopping List: Shopping lists can be organized by type, and when they are ready to be used, they are assigned to a store. If the user checks items off of the list as she goes through the store, the next time she assigns a list to that store, all of the items will be listed in the order they can be picked up.
I like all those perks but I’d have to say my favorite is the Key Ring Reward Cards. How nice it would be to not have to carry all those reward cards, everyone has one now so my key chain is filling up.
