Last week I was invited to a Girls Night out with Hair Cuttery at their Cranston, RI Salon along with 5 other Rhode Island bloggers. I was super excited since I was in need of a hair cut (and eyebrow waxing!). The invitation stated that we could get our hair done, our nails done, a massage and then dinner at Ted Montana’s Grill. I’ve never been to Ted Montana’s (actually I hadn’t heard of them yikes!) and a night out without children, well I’m always open to that.
I picked up my buddy Melissa (A Life Less Complicated) and we headed to Hair Cuttery. They were all ready for us and I think just as excited as we were. There were two blogger’s that I already knew, Deb from Frugal Living and Having Fun and Brandy from Brandy’s Big Bargains. We all chatted and caught up while enjoying the nice spread of cheese, crackers and fruit. Once everyone was there the fun began (well not that chatting with the blogger’s wasn’t fun lol).
I was paired up with Rhodie to cut my hair. She’s probably one of the most up beat people I’ve ever met. She’s spunky and fun and she did a fantastic job. Before we began she asked me what I wanted and made sure that I understood exactly what she was going to do. I told her no worries, it’s hair it will grow back! We had a fun conversation and I was very happy with the final outcome. I’d go back to Rhodie in a heartbeat, but I don’t live local to that salon so maybe after I move. But I totally recommend her!
Then I had a massage from Massage Envy and boy let me tell you I had no idea how nice that would feel! I am looking into making time for me to get a massage every month, or every other month. I think everyone should do it! After the massage I got my nails done and I always feel ‘pretty’ when I get my nails done. I know it sounds so silly but it’s something I never do for myself, but it’s something simple so I should so I’m going to try. You could say that this Girls Night Out made me realize I need more me time, even when I can’t get out.
Then it was off to dinner with the gang! I had the grilled chicken Caesar salad and it was fantastic! I know sometimes it’s not hard to make a good salad but when everything is fresh and crunchy and the chicken is perfectly grilled and tender and juicy, then that is a good salad!
I had a great time mingling with the ladies from Hair Cuttery, Aigner Prensky Marketing and the other bloggers. I was sad to see it was already 10pm and I had to head home.
The other bloggers at the event were…
- A Life Less Complicated
- Stephanie’s Mommy Brain
- Frugal Living and Having Fun
- Brandy’s Big Bargains
There are only two Hair Cuttery’s in RI right now.. one in Cranston and one in Westerly and if you live by one I suggest you give them a try! You don’t even need an appointment. That’s the best part, you can go when you have time. As a mom, my busy schedule sometimes doesn’t allow me to plan that far ahead to make an appointment so I like knowing I can go whenever I have time. Always a plus for me. The atmosphere was fun and inviting and everyone was so friendly. Now of course I’d expect that they would be friendly since they knew we were coming but the ladies I met all seemed genuine and I don’t think they just put on a show for us. As a matter of fact Rhody, who cut and styled my hair said it was her day off but she had been really excited and looking forward to meeting all of us and didn’t even care she was working on her day off!!! I like that kind of attitude!
If you are thinking of checking out Hair Cuttery here is a coupon for $3.00 off a Shampoo, Cut and Blowdry. The coupon expires 2/28/11 so make sure you print it out and toss it in your bag so you can make that unexpected trip to get your hair cut! Or maybe if you’re not sure you want to have someone new cut your hair you can just go and get a wash and blow dry just to ‘check them out”.
Disclosure: I received free services and a goody bag at the event however this did not influence my post. I was not asked to write about Hair Cuttery now was I told what to say.
