My friend Jodi has recently started her coupon saving journey. She calls me each week to ask me if a deal is good or not. She’s learning and doing so well. I’m very proud of her.
One thing she has learned just from my experiences and her own experiences is not everyone can do the same thing to save money. Sometimes you need to adjust your strategy to your lifestyle. I asked her to explain how she plans her week, as a couponing ‘newbie’, and what is her game plan when planning out her shopping trips.
Jodi is a wife and stay at home mom to a 4 year old boy. Lucky to be a stay at home mom, Jodi is also aware of the financial sacrifices of staying home full time. With changes in the economy and increasing monthly utility and grocery bills, Jodi has become more cautious of overspending. Considering herself thrifty, she shops clearance racks, clips coupons and shops at second hand stores. She enjoys sharing her new experiences with using coupons, comparing sale items and looking for bargains. Jodi is also a scrapbooker and blogs about her scrapbooking and her dialy life at Being Mrs Scrapdiva.
A Note from Frugal RI Mama: Sometimes going to 3 different stores each week can be more of a waste of gas money and time then you will get in savings. If you compare a few things that are on sale at each store, even though one thing might be more at one store than the other, if you make 1 trip and get them all at once, you may still save the most at one store when you factor in your time and gas. Just a thought for those of you that are short on time.
