I’m so excited to share with you that I am a Nutrisystem Nation Blogger and I’ll be following the Nutrisystem program and sharing my weekly progress right here on the blog.

I just completed my 10th week on Nutrisystem and I lost an additional .9 lbs for a total of 24.5 lbs so far.

The past few days have been the hardest since I’ve been following the Nutrisystem program.  Yes I know I did lose some weight and slow is good, but I know with all the swimming I’ve done the past few days, it probably would have been more.    Since the 4th of July (Thursday) we’ve either had friends over for cook outs or been to our friends homes for cook outs.   It’s very challenging when I’m not on my normal schedule to follow the program and I haven’t been on a normal schedule since Wednesday of last week!

We will probably have a lot of weeks like this during the summer, and I have to be OK with it because we are having a great time and my kids are enjoying every moment of it.   One day last week I was talking to a friend and discussing how hard it is some days and how easy it is other days.  We were also discussing all the wonderful summer drinks we’d love to enjoy but they are either high in calories or high in carbs.  I told her that I was thinking that I could either be super strict this summer with my eating and lose a lot by September, or I could enjoy myself and have it go slower so I don’t feel like I’ve missed out on anything.

I’ve decided that slower is better in the long run because I am learning how to make it all work so I can keep the weight off this time, for good.

Does this mean I’m going to go off program some days?  No, not at all.  This means that if one meal isn’t exactly what it should be because I’m not home and don’t have access to my food, then I’ll do my best but I’m not going to stress over it.   For example, we were at a pool party last week and I brought a salad so I knew there would be some veggies there.   The only protein options were hamburgers and hot dogs.  So I had a hamburger.  I filled my plate with salad, some beans, some taco salad and a hamburger.  Can I just tell you that hamburger tasted SO GOOD!  It was almost 10 weeks since I’d had one and I really enjoyed it.  I knew it wasn’t the best choice but I figured it was better than a hot dog??  At least I thought so.   I also went for seconds of the taco salad but it was more of my desert.  But you know what I didn’t have?  I didn’t have any actual dessert!  As hard as it was, I walked away from the table and just day dreamed about having some of the smore’s because they looked so good.   I also told myself when I got home I could have one of my Nutrisystem desserts and since those are totally satisfying, it was worth it.

I think about what I would have eaten for that party had I not been careful.  I probably would have had a hamburger AND a hot dog.  I would have had dessert for sure, and probably 2 or 3 servings of dessert.   So even though when I got on the scale this week I felt a little down that it wasn’t more of a lose, I was happy to see it wasn’t a gain, because that is exactly what would have happened if I ate the way I normally ate.

I’m down almost 25 lbs and I may or may not get to 30 by the end of the summer, but that’s ok.  As long as I don’t gain any weight then I’m way ahead of the game.

I still have a long way to go and I’m going to keep on going!
