Have you seen Raising The Bar? It’s on TNT on Monday nights and it stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar from NYPD Blue but also for those of you that are about my age, he was Zack in Saved By the Bell (no longer blond), Gloria Rubin from ER and Jane Kaczmarek from Malcolm in the Middle.
I was sent tonight’s episode to preview since it’s related to posting pictures on blogs. First of all I want to say I’ve never watched this show before but I’m going to start because I loved it.
Tonight’s episode is about a father who is arrested for posting a picture of his child in the bathtub on his blog. The problem was it ended up on a child pornography site.
I have a personal blog (that has been neglected lately since I spend so much time here) and I do have it listed publically so that my friends and family can find it and watch my girls grow. The problem is, if your blog is public, it’s out there for anyone to see and they can (and do) steal your pictures.
That is what happened to this father on tonight’s episode “No Child Left Behind”. As a parent my heart went out to him because he really had never thought about what could happen to that picture. Sharing pictures online is so easy and it’s such a great way to keep in contact but you still have to be careful what you ‘put out there’ because you just don’t know who’s hands it may end up in. It was a great story and something that anyone who has a blog should see.
Set your DVD’s or Tivo so you don’t miss it, tonight 6/29 on TNT. Check your local listings for times.
On a side note, I’d like to mention to keep in mind, not only pictures are taken from blogs, but entire blog posts. Whether personal or business related, people also copy content, which is considered plagiarism. You should NEVER copy anything from anyone especially word for word. If you see something that you’d like to share with your readers, that’s fine, most bloggers are flattered that you’d want to use their content, but you should always link back and give credit to the original writer.
