Today on PBS there is a 2 hour Earth Day program with a special Sid the Science Kid episode “The Dirt on Dirt”. We were lucky enough to view it before it premiered on PBS and my girls loved it. First off, Sid is just an adorable kid and if you haven’t seen him yet you have too! It’s a great show for preschoolers and it teaches so many things, especially science stuff.
In “The Dirt on Dirt” they talk about what’s in the dirt so they can learn more about it and why it’s important to keep it clean for the earth. The teacher has them go outside and fill up a bucket of dirt and then one by one they talked about what they found in the dirt, the good and the bad. My daughter immediately asked to go outside and look in the dirt. We’ve been doing lots of yard work the past week to get the flowerbeds all ready and one thing we’ve been doing was picking up ‘garbage’ that was blown into the yard this summer. She’s been learning how important it is to recycle plastic and that’s one thing that Sid and his friends found in the dirt on this episode.
It’s jam packed with lots information for our children to learn about the earth and I highly recommend you check it out today. See your TV listings for show times.
Happy Earth Day!
