Disney Planes Poster

Disney Planes Flies into Theaters Today August 9, 2013 | Planes Movie Review

If you are looking for something fun to do with the little ones this weekend how about taking them to see the new Disney Planes movie that opens in theaters today, August 9, 2013.   You may have read my post the other day about how I attended the premiere of Disney Planes in Los Angeles California on Monday night.  I had an amazing time at the pre-party and if you missed it you can read it all here.

As much fun as that was, we were really all there to see the movie for the first time and I was so excited because it was playing at the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Blvd.  This is a famous theater that shows a lot of premieres and has seen a lot of actors and actresses.   Boy if those walls could talk I’m sure they’d have some great stories to tell!

On the way to my seat I grabbed some popcorn and soda and then entered the theater right behind Brad Garrett!  He really is VERY tall!!!  Once I found my seat I sat in amazement thinking about how I was going to watch the movie that had so many great actors doing voices of these characters, as the same time as they were going to watch it!  It was a pretty cool feeling and the first time I heard Dusty talk, I thought about Dane Cook hearing it with me, and then when Dotty spoke, I knew that Teri Hatcher was also hearing it. It was very cool to experience this with a room full of all this awesome talent.

How as the movie?  It was awesome! This is definitely one to see in the theater rather than waiting to see it on DVD.  It didn’t disappoint me at all and was pretty funny at times.  The movie is about Dusty who is just a crop duster and is afraid of heights.   Imagine that, a plane that is afraid of heights!   But he wants to be so much more so his friends help him prepare for his big chance but he has to find the courage to actually succeed.   This is such a great message for kids to learn through a character they will surely fall in love with.

What I loved most about Dusty is that even though he wanted to come out on top, he still didn’t cheat to get there and when a friend was in need, he was always there to help.  He taught everyone around him that winning isn’t always the first thing on his mind.  I love this about his character!  The movie was a great balance of high flying action and character development and I really enjoyed it.   It also went by fast because before I knew it, it was over.  The movie along with everyone in that theater who helped make it,  received a huge round of applause.

It’s a great movie about friendship and about following your dreams no matter what people tell you or how your built.  I highly suggested dishing out the money to see this movie with your kids.  It’s rated PG but good for the entire family.
