This post is Sponsored by Barbara’s Puffins but my opinions are 100% my own!
Barbara’s has jumped on board with making sure their products are Non-GMO Verified and they are putting in right no the boxes so you know too! Barbara’s new packaging of its cereals and snacks with the Non-GMO Project Verified logo is hitting store shelves nationwide this fall and tells the story of the incredible progress the brand has made since 2011 in earning Non-GMO Project Verification for its products. You will soon find the Non-GMO Project Verified label on 30 of Barbara’s 37 cereals and snacks, including its popular line of Puffins cereals.
What is GMO?
GMO stands for “genetically modified organisms,” and they are plants or animals created through the gene splicing techniques of biotechnology (also called genetic engineering, or GE). This experimental technology merges DNA from different species, creating unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding.
You can clearly see the Non-GMO Verified logo right there on the box. And it looks pretty too! Along with the Whole Grain label. I look for that as well. Nice when it’s right there in the front of the box so I don’t have to look through the ingredients.

Barbara’s anticipates earning the Non-GMO Project Verification for at least two additional products in early 2014. You can find a complete list of all of Barbara’s Non-GMO Project Verified products at and by looking for the Non-GMO Project Verified label on Barbara’s new packaging as it rolls out to stores from August through December.
My kids love cereal and I love giving them products that are good for them. Not only are Barbara’s Puffins cereal Non- GMO but some of them are even Gluten Free, including the Honey Rice. I hear about more and more people finding out they have a gluten allergy and it seems more and more companies are making gluten-free products. My oldest loves the Honey Rice Puffins the best because they are a little on the sweet side, thanks to the honey. She’ll eat them right out of the box, not even in milk! My kids are funny, they love eating dry cereal.
I prefer the original Puffins best because they aren’t sweet. As much of a sweet tooth that I have, I don’t like sweet cereals, especially if i am adding milk to it. I enjoy a bowl of the original Puffins with a sliced up banana. I’d rather get my sweetness from the banana then from the cereal. And these are nice to snack on right out of the box too!
Cereal isn’t just for starting off our days in our household. Often times my kids take a small bag of cereal with them when we are going to be out for a while and they want a snack in the car. And sometimes I’ll add some raisins, cranberries and nuts to the bag and make them a fun trail mix and even healthier snack!
Are you a fan of Barbara’s Puffins cereals? If so which are your favorite?
Disclosure: I received a Free product for review. My opinions are 100% mine.
Love this cereal! Especially like that it is Non-GMO verified!
Great blog. I searched your site for “gluten free” and found a statement that referred to Pillsbury’s new gluten free pastry dough. I read they have cookie, pie, and pastry dough now. However, when I clicked the link I only saw gluten products. I would definitely share your coupon via social media if it exists. Please email me if you have it, if you have a moment.
Hi Carla, The coupons change so often that it’s probably not available anymore. If you show me exactly where you saw it I can try and find out if it’s still available. Thanks!
