Choffy is brewed chocolate! 100% premium cocoa beans roasted and ground to create a rich drink that provides long-lasting energy and whole body wellness.
Richer and more robust than hot chocolate, it brews just like coffee. But unlike coffee, it supplies you with long-lasting energy without the crash or other negative effects of caffeine. In fact, the only thing that’s addictive about it is the taste!
I love coffee and I love chocolate but I don’t like chocolate flavored coffee and I thought that is what this was, but it’s not! It’s much better than that and it is also hard to compare it to hot chocolate because there is so much more flavor to it. It was good and I’ve been enjoying it along with a few of my friends. I would have never tried it had I not received a sample but I’m so glad I did!!
It comes in a variety of flavors and a 12 oz bag sells for about $15. Here are the descriptions of all of the flavors:
- Ivory Coast – This is the classic original Choffy with cocoa from the Ivory Coast! Nice deep chocolate with hints of light natural grains, and a classic earthy flavor. A long time favorite by many!
- IC Dark – is the new dark roast of our very popular Ivory Coast Choffy. IC Dark has a deep, refined cocoa flavor with subtle earthy notes and an incredibly satisfying aftertaste.
- La Española – s created from a limited edition single estate cacao bean from the Dominican Republic. It has a deep and rich, yet smooth chocolate flavor with nutty overtones.
- Mamberamo – This limited edition Choffy has an exotically deep smoky chocolate flavor with subtle hints of spice. This Choffy is exceptionally smooth and rich, mirroring the land from which it comes. This flavor is almost sold out so get it now while it lasts.
I tried the IC Dark but I’m sure I’d also love the Ivory Coast.
You don’t brew Choffy like coffee or mix it with hot water like Hot Chocolate. It is best when prepared in a French Press because the press allows the Choffy grinds to steep in the boiling water and gives the best flavor. It also allows the grounds to be pressed, rather than just having water pass through the grinds quickly in these other machines.
According to the website Choffy can be brewed in a Coffee Maker if it has a gold, wire, or mesh filter, a paper filter in coffee makers is not recommended. Brewing Choffy in Espresso or Keurig Machines is not recommended as it comes out tasting watery. I did try this and they are correct, you really don’t get the same flavor from a Keurig that you get from a French Press. To get the best results with preparing Choffy you really should use a French Press.
Because Choffy is made entirely of the cocoa (cacao) bean, there is a very small amount of caffeine naturally but not a lot!
