Product Name:  Colief Infant Drops

Product Information:  Colief® contains the naturally occurring enzyme lactase, which helps to break down the lactose for easier digestion. It allows babies with a ‘transient’ lactase deficiency (TLD) to be fed their usual milk—breast milk or formula—with much less discomfort.

Colief is specially formulated to help give you and your baby relief from colic. Studies have shown that the hours of crying may be greatly reduced when babies are fed their usual milk treated with Colief.

Colief Infant Drops contains a natural enzyme. Enzymes are destroyed by excessive heat (above 95 F). It works best in warm milk. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when preparing your infant’s formula. Do not add Colief Infant Drops to formula that is too hot or too cold.

Why not feed with a lactose-free formula? Because it is believed that a residual level of lactose from feeding may be necessary to stimulate the baby’s system to produce its own lactase enzyme.

What is Colic?  Colic is defined as repeated episodes of excessive and inconsolable crying in a newborn baby who otherwise appears to be perfectly healthy. The condition affects up to 1 in 5 babies.

Symptoms of colic can include:

  • Crying for at least 3 hours a day, at least 3 days a week, for at least 3 weeks
  • Drawing up on the knees
  • Gas
  • Redness of the face

As any parent with a distressed, crying baby knows, colic affects a whole household, and can be very frustrating and upsetting for all involved.

My oldest cried a lot as a baby – pretty much whenever a put her down.  They didn’t diagnosis her with colic but I have a suspicion  that’s what it was.  Either that or acid reflux because she also didn’t like to lay down.  Either way it was very difficult and hard to enjoy her for the first few months.  Of course I look back now and it was such a short period of time compared to the time that has past.

However when you are in that situation you’ll try anything that may help, including Colief Infant Drops.

Could you use these?
