Tivo

I’ll tell you, recording your favorite shows has come a long way!  I remember when I would forget to set the VCR to tape my favorite show and I’d think of it either too late or no one was home to turn it on.  Actually I didn’t even have a cell phone to call anyone to ask them to hit record so I had to find a pay phone!   And then I had a VCR that I could set to record the same time everyday, but then forget to put it on the correct channel.  Those days were tough compared to what we have at our hands right now with cable DVR’s!  But TiVo actually wants to make it even easier for you.

We don’t have TiVo but I’m seriously considering it because it seems so much better for us compared to what we currently have.

  • TiVo’s DVR platform includes Integration with Netflix, Amazon, Hulu while also including other applications such as Pandora, Spotify, and more.
  • Tivo’s DVR also integrates seamlessly across both mobile and iPad, allowing the busy customer to watch while on the go.
  • The TiVo Premier is customized for the home environment and family.  Whether you want to connect content to your iPad or computer, you can do so.

How cool would it be to be able to put your DVR’d shows on your iPad and take them with you where ever you go, to watch when ever you can!   I love the portability of that.  Plus TiVo has so much more space than my current DVR ….

Tivo Choices

Depending on what needs your family has, you can get 2 tuners with up to 75 HD hours, 4 tuners with up to 75 HG hours or 4 tuners with up to 300 HD hours!  If there are enough people in your house that have their own (separate) favorite shows, you can have enough room to save them all for everyone!  I know my current DVR doesn’t hold nearly as much as these.  Does yours?

And then there is TiVo Stream which lets you stream your favorite shows on your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch from any room in your house!  So you don’t even need a TV in every room to watch your favorite shows.  I recently told my husband I’d love a TV in my office and he laughed at me.  Well with TiVo Stream I wouldn’t need it, I could just stream my DVR’d shows onto my iPad!!

I’m not sure how much Live TV I actually watch.  Because of my crazy schedule I don’t normally sit down in front of the TV in the evenings because I’m busy getting things ready for the morning.  By the time I do sit down most of my shows have already aired.  But that’s OK since I DVR them.  Do you find you watch more Live shows or recorded shows?  This is pretty interesting:

  • According to Accenture, 49% of consumers now view OTT content as well as usual TV.
  • According to Pew Research 46 percent of adult ‘net users are creating their own content and 41 percent are helping reach an even wider audience by reposting it on social media sites.
  • InMobi states that of the many uses of mobile, 70% of consumer will or would use it to watch television or some form of online content.

My girls have a Disney Junior app on their iPods so they watch their favorite shows on there since they can watch them when they want.  Even they don’t sit and watch live TV often anymore.

Let’s face it, we are all busy and we are all spoiled with technology, and it just keeps getting better and better!
