Since she swims with her tail, she gracefully swims on her stomach, her back and even sitting down. She has a sparkling tail and beautiful hair and fashion. My Thoughts: One morning I was watching TV with my little one. Of course all the commercials for toys are on during the morning cartoons – don’t you love it? We saw a commercial for a mermaid doll, not this one but one similar. Of course my girls loved it – they love girly things and mermaids are pretty girly. At the end of the commercial it showed the little girl who was playing with the doll, in the bathtub with her ‘mermaid fin’ sticking out of the tub. It implied that if you have this doll and play with it in the bathtub, you’ll turn into a mermaid too. At least that’s how I took it.
Well, my little one took it the same way as me because she said to me “Mommy can we get that doll so that I can also turn into a Mermaid and have a Mermaid fin”. I laughed so hard and asked her if she really thought that would happen and she replied “Well mommy, that’s what happened on TV, so lets get it and see if it happens to me!”. I loved it and told her we would see.
A few days later we received the Moxie Girlz Magic Swim Mermaid doll for review and she about fell over from jumping up and down so hard saying “now I can see if I can turn into a mermaid” and she instantly wanted to take a bath. So into the bathtub she went and she played until the water was freezing cold, waiting for her fins to show up, still thinking it would happen – but it didn’t. She was sad for a little while but got over it pretty quickly because she had a fun new toy.
Even though this mermaid doll didn’t turn her into a mermaid, she still LOVED it because it’s actually pretty cool. It ‘magically’ swims on it’s own when in the water. I put the quotes around magically because it doesn’t work as smoothly as it appears on the box (we’ve never seen this on TV to see how they show it works) but for my four year old, it was magic enough and swam perfectly. She loved it.
