Old London, the makers of delicious melba toast products, want to help us fit in those summer clothes by encouraging us to include healthy, simple foods in our everyday menus. Their famous snacks, made with all-natural ingredients and whole grains, prove a great way to satisfy mid-day hunger when paired with light treats like salsa or cheese.

To inspire healthy living, Old London has launched the “Aloha Old London” sweepstakes and will send one winner and a guest to beautiful Oahu, Hawaii for an all-expenses paid, Hawaiian vacation. The winner will be invited to soak up the sun, enjoy the spa and the surf, treat themselves to private cooking lessons, and just breathe during the four-day, three-night, all-expenses-paid trip.  You can enter the sweepstakes now through June 30th, 2011 on the Old London Foods facebook page.

I’ve been trying to eat healthy every chance I get and I want my family to eat healthier too, but we are a family that LOVES to snack so I was excited to receive some boxes of Old London snacks for our family to try out.  My girls love crackers and chips so they will try anything crunchy, especially dipped in ranch dressing!  (That’s my secret to get them to try anything — let them dip it in ranch dressing!).

I love Melba toast and my favorite thing to have with it is cottage cheese!   It’s a yummy and healthy snack.  I also like to spread some cream cheese on top and even peanut butter!   My 6 year old didn’t like them, they were too crunchy, no matter what I put on them but my 4 year old LOVED them, especially dipped in ranch dressing.   She enjoys snacking on croutons so to her these were just BIG, FLAT croutons!

Which brought me to another idea of breaking them up and putting them on top of my salad, which was delicious!   When I get some fresh tomatoes from my garden this summer, I think these would be great with some chopped up tomatoes, a little onion and basil….. bruschetta with melba toast!  Perfect!!
