allergens can trigger even asthma!!..my daughters are allergic to fragrance!!…I follow you on facebook!
I learned that blinds are better than curtains…it makes sense and since I suffer badly from allergies I am going to switch where I can!!!
Interesting allergy tidbit I learned … Be aware that allergenic dust mite and mold particles get “stirred up” and become airborne during vacuuming. Allergy sufferers should avoid the vacuumed area for 15 minutes after the chore is finished.
I didn’t think about how vacuuming would “stir things up” – makes perfect sense though!

Reduce mold and mildew growth by ensuring good air circulation/ventilation. Clean tiled walls and other hard surfaces where moisture is likely to collect, and clean visible mold from walls and ceilings immediately.
Hard surfaces are better than soft, if fighting allergies.
That allergens are also called triggers. I live in the desert and I have allergies to dust and dirt (military wife had no say in moving here lol) so I use the wipe a lot to get the dirt off my counters.

Don’t use a humidifier unless your child has croup (a swelling around vocal cords that is common among children). Moisture from humidifiers can increase dust mites and mold. This is interesting to me because both my boys have bad allergies and asthma. I use the humidifier in their fool always with a vicks solution in it. I thought it helped. but i guess not

It makes sense to use blinds rather than curtains! Think of all the material that a curtain is made of and all the room for dust and allergens!
Aim for low humidity (between 40 and 50%) to keep allergens at bay. This is a new fact for me.

I learned that dust mites are microscopic animals in the spider family. They eat discarded human skin cells, which are constantly being shed, and get their water from humidity in the atmosphere. They thrive in temperatures around 70 °F and high humidity … and they reproduce very quickly.
