It’s unfortunate that most people know someone who has dealt with Breast Cancer whether it’s a family member, friend or a friend of a friend. A friend of mine from college found out she had Breast Cancer right around the time we all turned 30. She fought a good fight for almost 5 years but unfortunately she lost and passed away last year. I’m so sad to think of how young she was and how unfair it was that cancer won but hopefully someday every women will be able to beat Breast cancer. That is my hope.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I wanted to share with you a community that has been formed on My Space called Pink Together where everyone can share hope by posting and reading inspiring stories of breast cancer survivors and supporters within the community.
The site is part of Pink Together®, a national campaign to support those impacted by breast cancer and to help raise awareness of the disease. To support Pink Together, General Mills is donating $2 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and is turning the packaging pink next month on an assortment of its most beloved brands. General Mills will also donate $1, up to $20,000, each time you post a comment of encouragement, send a virtual flower bouquet or share a story on Pink Together in October.
To help generate awareness, My Blog Spark and General Mills sent me an Inspiring Hope gift basket and they would also like to give one to my readers.
One lucky Frugal RI Mama reader will receive an Inspiring Hope gift basket which includes a sleeved travel mug, a running ribbon charm bracelet, a pink leather strap key chain, a pink cinch bag, and a set of inspirational note cards. All of the gift basket items are from ShopKomen.com, where 25 percent of the merchandise purchase price benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure® in the fight against breast cancer.
