I’m so excited to share with you that I am a Nutrisystem Nation Blogger and I’ll be following the Nutrisystem program and sharing my weekly progress right here on the blog.

I just completed my 5th week on Nutrisystem and I lost an additional .6 lbs for a total of 15.6 lbs so far.

This week I lost under a pound but I figured eventually I’d have a small loss and I’m OK with it.  I still feel great and I’m still on my way.   Every little bit I lose is a loss and if I wasn’t on Nutrisystem I would have gained so I’m way ahead.

This is also a big learning process, especially when we are out for a meal.  This past Saturday was a struggle for me, food wise.  We had a wedding to attend and it was an outdoor BBQ and while I knew there would be some healthy options, I knew it wouldn’t all be healthy.  We also had a 1.5 hour car ride so I packed my lunch and ate it on the way there around the same time I normally eat lunch.  I find that consistency is one key to my success!

The wedding began at 1pm and then the food was served about 2pm.  I realized around the time the food was served, which was pretty much lunch,  that I hadn’t really thought ahead much about what I would do for dinner and started getting stressed inside.  I hate that food stresses me out but I am trying so hard to stay on the plan because once I make too many ‘exceptions’ then I’m done.  I realized then we probably wouldn’t be having “dinner” as a family because my husband and girls would be eating a lot now and then cake for dessert.  The only other thing I packed was a dessert for the ride home, which was another 1.5 hours.

I also didn’t want to eat right away because I had just had lunch about 2 hours ago.  So I waited until they were almost ready to take the food away and I had grabbed a huge plate of salad and some BBQ chicken.  I took the skin off the chicken and only ate the white meat.  Unfortunately the salad dressing offerings were probably full of fat so I used as little as I could to still enjoy the salad.    Then when dessert was served,   I filled my plate up with salad again to avoid the temptation of what the kids were eating.  Thankfully I love salad and this was full of veggies so it wasn’t really hard for me to have that over the dessert.   But it was still only 4pm and I knew I’d need more food before the end of the night, besides my dessert I had with me.

It was also super hot outside so I drank water all day long because I retain water in the heat.   Despite this I really enjoyed myself at the wedding and so did my family but I hate the food struggles that I have, not just because of this diet,  this is something I’ve dealt with all my life.  But I did my best.    We stayed much later than I figured we would since we had so much fun so on the way home we stopped and I was able to get some salad and a little chicken so I wasn’t starving.  I tried my best to get in the right amount of protein and all the veggies I needed for the day and I think I did pretty good.  But boy it sure was a challenge!

Today is my birthday!  I’m 40 years old today and my husband is throwing me a party this weekend.  I’ve made the decision that at my party I will still follow the plan but I will have one glass of wine and one small slice of cake.   It’s just one day.  I will also stay on the program all week-long but I also know that little bit isn’t going to do a lot of damage.

I still have a long road ahead of me, and anyone who wants to join me can check in each Monday as I post my results.
