I’m so excited to share with you that I am a Nutrisystem Nation Blogger and I’ll be following the Nutrisystem program and sharing my weekly progress right here on the blog.

I just completed my 9th week on Nutrisystem and I lost an additional 2.3 lbs for a total of 23.6 lbs so far.

I have had a weight problem most of my life.  I’ve always struggled with it and I can see one of my girls may have the same struggle I had, so I’m trying my best to fix it for her now.  One way I know I will help is if I fix my problem.   They are both learning from me and if I have better eating habits, they will too.

This has already proven itself while I’ve been on Nutrisystem a few times.   They are both at ages where they are very influenced by what is going on around them.  And they are learning to (want to) make decisions for themselves.   Vegetables have always been lacking at our table and now that I’m on Nutrisystem there are plenty of offerings in our house weekly.     One of my girls will eat anything I put in front of her, even veggies.  She’s learned that if she doesn’t really love the taste, she’ll mix it with something else and chances are you won’t notice it so much.  And it’s true!  The other one isn’t as willing to eat stuff she doesn’t “know”.   I say she doesn’t “know” because if she’s never tried it how does she know she’ll like it.

One day I picked up some pea pods for me.   I like to eat them raw, out of the pods.  Some of the smaller peas will make a ‘popping’ sound when you bit into them.  They seem to be filled with air.   My girls heard this ‘popping’ sound and thought it was cool and they both asked to try some.  I was so excited I handed over my food to them.  If they were going to eat it, then I’d gladly give it up.  (I didn’t have much since I didn’t expect them to want them).    This was HUGE that my little one was eating peas….. and doing it willingly.

After that night they both ask me all the time if they can have some peas.   My heart skips a beat when this happens so I keep them in my fridge all the time.   They even asked to take them to school for snack a few times!!

I wish I had known this before I planted my garden as I would have planted peas but next year I will for sure.    However, I did plant cherry tomatoes which I love and we currently have a lot of them growing.  Once the girls so saw the ‘fruit’ form from the flowers, they were immediately interested.   As we counted how many were there so far my little one said she thinks she’s going to taste them this time!  Wonderful!!!!

So it is true, they really do learn from example so if I continue on my road to having a healthier body, I hope they will do and neither one of them will struggle the way I have all my life.  And next years garden will be much, much bigger!

I still have a long way to go and I’m going to keep on going!
