Celebrate the 25th anniversary of a Disney classic with the stunning Blu-ray debut of Oliver And Company, featuring perfect picture and sound. Relive this charming animated adventure, packed with excitement, fun and unforgettable songs by Billy Joel, Bette Midler and Huey Lewis – some of my favorite singers!

The Blu-ray/DVD was released on August 6 2013 and you can find it in stores where movies are sold.  This is a classic that will be a perfect addition to your movie library.    Yes you may have these already in your move library but what I love about the Blu-ray is that there are always awesome extras for the entire family.  Have you ever really taken the time to watch them?  Because if you haven’t you should because they can be just as entertaining as the movie or perhaps educational.  I love when they put behind the scenes stuff on the Blu-rays.  That’s all very interesting to me.

The Oliver and Company Blu-ray and DVD includes the following extras –

  • Two Bonus Shorts
“Lend A Paw” which is an Academy Award winning animated short which won Best Short Subject (Cartoon) in 1941
    “Puss Cafe” Animated Short
  • Disney Sing-Along Mode
  • Disney’s Animated Animals
  • The Making of Oliver And Company

And more!

The girls loved the Disney Sing Along mode because they were able to learn the words to some of the fun songs included in this movie.  They love to sing and dance and the music is beautiful enough for them to practice some of their dance moves while watching it!   When you watch it in Disney Sing Along Mode, any music played with show the words along the bottom of the screen.  It’s also great reading practice for my 6 year old!

I love the Making of Oliver and Company Extra the best.   I love learning about the actors and how they came about to be a part of this.  It was also cool to see how they painted the pictures and even funny listening them talk about using the computer for making the original one.  Boy things have come a long way since then!  They probably had no idea how much they’d be able to use computers as time went on.

ABOUT OLIVER AND COMPANY

In the heart of New York City, Oliver, a mischievous orphaned kitten, is befriended by Dodger, a carefree pooch and his ragtag family of misfit mutts. Life gets even better for Oliver when he is adopted by a lonely little girl named Jenny. But when tough guy Sykes and his Doberman sidekicks try to keep Jenny and Oliver apart, the spirited kitten and his new-found friends discover the meaning of courage and find a home where they truly belong.

I love how they’ve redone this movie and it really is done so well.  The images are full of color and they don’t look like they are on ‘film’.  Do you know what I mean by that?  The old way made it look ‘grainy’ is the only way I can describe it but this blu-ray version is colorful and just beautifully done!  Of course it was perfectly fine the way it was but now it’s updated to be more like the movies are today.
