As I told you last week, I love to bake for the holidays and I bake a LOT!   I was challenged to use some Great Value brand items in my baking this year so I did things a little differently.  I not only saved time but money as well because Great Value brand products, which are found at Walmart, have a much better price point then the name brands.

I was asked to use the Great Value Cinnamon Rolls and Great Value refrigerated cookie dough in my recipes.  Here is what I made…

Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Bites with Cinnamon Chips!! My family loves anything cinnamon and with all the excitement of Christmas morning they won’t have to sit for breakfast because instead they can eat these yummy Cinnamon Roll bites:

To make these I first sprayed my mini muffin tin with Pam and then cut each cinnamon roll in half and loosely formed a ball.  I put each ball in the pan and then formed a well in the dough with my finger.  I sprinkled Cinnamon Chips inside each well.  This is just so they’d stay on the top because I figured they would rise while they baked.

I baked them according to the cinnamon roll instructions but took them out once they looked cooked.  I immediately dabbed some of the frosting on top of each one and let it drip down the sides.   After these cooled a little I popped them out of the tin and we ate them immediately.  The girls loved them and asked me to do it like this all the time!  They were extra yummy with the cinnamon chips.

Sugar Cookies are always on my baking list because the kids and my husband love them.  This year to save time in making the sugar cookie dough, I used the Great Value Sugar Cookie mix and just rolled it out with my rolling-pin.  The girls choose a few cookie cut outs and then used some fun sprinkles …

This was such a super fast way of making these and I may always do it this way now.  Why bother when they tasted just as good!

The 2nd batch which had the stars in them cooked a little more than the first one, but that is OK because some of my family likes them crunchy and some like them soft.  So I have them both ways!

Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Chip Cookies are a family favorite and have been for a while now.   My mother in law introduced them to me a long time ago and I normally make the chocolate chip cookie dough to go along with them but no more.  Using the Great Value Chocolate Chip Cookie dough was such a HUGE time saver.

Before I began I took the mini Reese’s peanut butter cups out of the wrapper and put them in the fridge so they’d get a little hard.  Since they are going into a warm cookie, I find it best to start out with them being hard.  Then I sprayed my mini muffin tin with Pam cooking spray.  I then cut the cookie ‘log’ into about 1/2″ slices and then sliced those in half.  I formed a ball with each half and put the balls in the muffin tin.  I then baked them at 350 for about 10 minutes or until they looked cooked.

As soon as I take them out of the oven, I press a Reese’s peanut butter cup inside each one and then put the entire muffin tin the refrigerator to cool.  The reason I do this is the peanut butter cups start to melt immediately and I find they cool in a nicer fashion when in the refrigerator.  Once they are cool I pop them out with a knife and they are good to go.  You could use mini muffin tins to get them out easier if you’d like.

I highly suggested you look through all your cookie recipes and see if you can substitute a Great Value refrigerated dough product to save you some time and money.  And let me know if you do!
