Bluebird from American Express, Not a Credit Card and More Than a Pre-Paid Card

Bluebird from American Express, Great for Budgeting Groceries In December I introduced you to Bluebird from American Express and I've been using it and learning about different ways it can be a valuable tool.  It's not a credit card and not exactly a debit card.  It's more of a pre-paid card but it has so many benefits that pre-paid cards don't normally have.  There are two ways to get a Bluebird card and neither of them are based on credit.  You can sign up online, which is FREE and super quick and easy, or purchase a 'kit' from Walmart for a $5 fee.   There is no approval process since it's not a credit card so you don't need to worry about your credit.  It's basically a pre-paid card...

Saving with Coupons Update 10/30/12

Last week I went to a few stores including Target, CVS and Stop & Shop, but only did a small shopping trip at Stop & Shop.  I essentially just grabbed a few things on sale to be able to use their store coupons and get some cheap cereal and crackers!  I stocked up on Toilet Paper and Kleenex at CVS with the ExtraBuck deal they had on Scott and Kleenex.  We are all set for a while! Remember these numbers are just for coupon savings.  If I included my savings on sales as well my total would be much higher ($80.34) but this is to show you how using coupons really helps to make a dent in your spending.  Also I am not an extreme couponer and I don't buy stuff just to use coupons.  I...

Saving with Coupons Update 9/4/12

Once again, last week I skipped all the drug stores but I did do another nice grocery shopping and I used lots of coupons.   Now remember,  I'm not an extreme couponer.  I just buy what my family needs that week and I stockpile very few items.  I try to plan my menus on what is on sale and what I have in the house.    This is normal, reasonable shopping and after last week I've saved over $600 just in using coupons.  By the time the year is over I will have saved enough just in using coupons to pay an extra month on my mortgage.  That is a HUGE savings in the end on interest!!! Here is what we saved with coupons... I shopped at Stop & Shop and saved $36.11 with coupons. MY total saved...
